Etiquette and Responsibility

Dancer Etiquette and Parental Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of every dancer to:

  • arrive on time and in rehearsal attire

  • have a positive, hard working attitude

  • respect other dancers, instructors and the rules of the classroom and St. Basil’s Cultural Centre. While socializing is a fun part of Ukrainian Dancing and necessary part of life, it should be kept to a minimum (water break times) inside the classroom. There is absolutely no running, playing tag, or loud games in the hallway or elevator at the Cultural centre, please be mindful if other user groups that share the hall while we are there. If you have to wait with a sibling, consider crossing 109 street to Violet Archer playground (behind Pearls Dental) or crossing the avenue to visit Queen Alexandra Community Playground.

It is the responsibility of every parent to:

  • ensure his or her child/children do not play in the foyers of the Cultural Centre and refrain from using the elevator or running up and down stairs. Other parish groups use the hall and we must be respectful of this.

  • not disturb or interrupt the classes. We are here to learn dance, not police misbehaviours - this is an elective, fun, extracurricular event, if your child really doesn’t want to be there, please, don’t force them to the detriment of other kids in the class. This is a distraction and takes away of the valuable instruction time. If there is an issue you would like to discuss, please email the team ahead of time to arrange a meeting.

  • remain outside the classroom unless it is a designated parent watch day or if special arrangements have been made with the instructor.
